LOCAL WORKSHOPS - SHARING THE JOY FOR BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY:

THE GOAL OF THE VICTORIA BIRD PHOTO ACADEMY:

Having lived in Victoria for 4 years now I have run across a lot of bird photographers out in the field. It is awesome to see how many people in Victoria enjoy taking pictures of birds!

As a full time bird photographer I have learned a few tips, tricks and techniques over the years. How to find and approach birds in the field; how to get birds to land where you want them to; how to get them to swim where you want them to, and fly where you want them to. I may even be able to help you set up your own backyard for more successful bird photography opportunities.

The purpose of the Victoria Bird Photography Academy is for us local photographers who love taking pictures of birds to get together, learn from one another and have a good time.

I hope you will join me on an upcoming workshop right here in and around beautiful Victoria.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR:

Glenn Bartley is a professional nature photographer from Victoria, BC.  He focuses on capturing intimate portraits of birds in their natural surroundings. Glenn strives for what he calls “clean” images – where the subject is clear, distracting elements are kept to a minimum and the background is pleasingly blurred out of focus.

Glenn’s work has been published widely throughout North America in books and magazines (such as Birder’s World, Birding, Nature Photographer & Bird Watchers Digest).  He has published 5 books including his most recent books entitled – “Birds in Ecuador: A Photographic Journey” and the soon to be released "Birds of Vancouver Island".

Glenn loves to share his passion for photography and for the natural world with those who attend his photographic workshops.

LOCAL FIELD WORKSHOPS:

Throughout the year I will be posting information here about upcoming opportunities to get out in the field and take beautiful bird images. We may be visiting locations that are familiar to you, or perhaps places that you have never been, but I can promise that we will have a good time in our pursuit of the best possible bird photographs.

If you want to be kept up to date about upcoming workshops - send me an email and I will add you to the mailing list.

ADOBE PHOTOSHOP LESSONS:

Digital photography has opened up a whole new realm of possibilities for nature photographers. It has made learning while out in the field much more intuitive, and in my opinion, made photography a lot more enjoyable.

The ability to take hundreds, if not thousands, of images in a single day has certainly increased the potential for capturing a pleasing image.

However, for many photographers the digital darkroom is still a somewhat scary place. Sorting through gigabytes of images, figuring out which software programs to use and trying to establish a digital workflow can be daunting tasks.

If this sounds familiar to you – then join Glenn Bartley for a custom digital workshop!
