AN INTRODUCTION TO THIS WORKSHOP

 

A great way to quickly improve your photography is to sign up for a one or two day private photography lesson with Glenn Bartley. We will spend the entire day in the field shooting together and learning about elements such as: composition, lighting and most importantly strategies to create the types of photos that you want to capture.

DUCK PHOTOGRAPHY - It is still the season for duck photography at all of our local hotspots. Before these waterfowl head back inland let Glenn show you a few techniques to get the best possible images.

SONGBIRD PHOTOGRAPHY TECHNIQUES - By late April and early May the migratory songbirds will have returned to Victoria and be on territories. Learn how to create images of songbirds like warblers, tanagers and wrens that you never imagined were possible!

KEY LEARNING OBJECTIVES

These workshops are designed entirely for you. We will speak prior to the workshop and decide exactly what it is that you most want to learn. The places we go, subjects we shoot and lessons we learn will be customized for you!

Participants may choose to focus on the following learning objectives:

  • - How to compose a pleasing image
  • - Understanding light
  • - How to approach subjects and get close
  • - Songbird photography - secrets of success
  • - Tips for successful flight photography
  • - Setting up your digital camera
  • - This workshop can also be combined with a 1/2 day digital workshop (see above)

 WHY SIGN UP FOR THIS WORKSHOP?

  • - Glenn is one of the world’s top photographers in bird portrait photography - his images are regularly published in books and magazines around the world. If they are good enough for the National Geographic Society - then you know you can trust him to help you with your photography!
  • - These one-on-one sessions are ideal for learning a lot in a short period of time.

LOGISTICS

Price:

  • - The cost of a field workshop is $379.00 / per day (+ any travel costs). This price is valid for up to 3 participants - so find a few friends and let's go shooting!
  • - 1/2 day "starter" classes may also be available upon request $120.00 / person
  • - Another option is to sign up for a field and classroom session for $499 (includes one entire day in the field plus a half day digital workshop).

Suggested Equipment:

It is recommended that each participant bring the following equipment:

  • - A digital SLR and a lens of 300mm or greater.
  • - A tripod is recommended
  • - A wide angle lens
  • - A flash
  • - Note that it may be possible to rent a digital SLR body and lens (300mm, 400mm or 500mm) from Glenn.
