Have to agree with you. Not sure where Canon is going these days. I too am waiting for a new 7D but it seems like it is less and less likely. I had heard that Canon might upgrade its xxD line to its former status and drop the 7D completely. It really seems like they are moving towards video and leaving still photography behind.

Switching to Nikon is out of the question for me financially so maybe a 1DIV if I can find a new one.

That won't thrill the wife. :-)

All the best

I'm absolutely inspired not only by your marvelous photographs but by your story and unbridal enthusiasm. I tried to take up bird photography on a shoestring a few years back but lost some files, had set backs and ran up against expenses. But recently have discovered potential of mixing bird photography & digital art. I love photos like the Crimson-crested Woodpeckers because of the incorporation of Flora and composition. Any way, you have opened up a whole new universe of possibilities for me.

I hope that they continue with the 7D too. If so I will probably just stick with my faithful old 500mm. Perhaps I'll try to pick up a 600mm at some point. But that price tag...ouch!

Great post, I really hope they continue the 7D line. I think they can do better than just one stop of ISO performance after looking at the new 5D specs. Are you going to move up to the new 600mm anyway, since it is much lighter and the minimum focus distance decreased or stay with 500mm?

Hi Glenn,

while translating your blog to insert in the newsletter, obviously I had to read it all again, and it is always nice reading it.

Also, it is good to see all the amazing pictures you've done there.

Great job, and again, thanks for letting me share your experience in Peru with some brazilians.

Cheers,
Jefferson

Glenn, I have been in awe of your photography for a while and these shots from Ecuador are truly inspiring. We spent the first week of Feb at the Napo Wildlife Center in the Amazon region and were amazed at the diversity of wildlife there. Hopefully, we will return to Ecuador someday and visit some of the other areas since they seem amazing as well as evidenced by your photos. I look forward to your next trip report.

Stunning work, Glen! It's hard to pick a favorite, but the diademed sandpiper-plover and toucan stand out most to me. Awesome stuff!
