The Galliformes are a family of chunky ground birds that include Turky, Grouse, Quail, Currasows and Ptarmigans. They are usually pretty shy

and can be difficult to get your lens on. This is no doubt because many of these birds have been hunted for centuries by humans.

Some of these birds are stunningly beautiful while others (like the Ocellated Turkey) are downright weird looking. But they are all interesting to snap pictures of!
